A good friend of mine, who also happens to be an incredible musician, asked me to sing some words on a song off his new record. His name is Pete Davis and the band is called Invalids. This particular song makes a bit of a reference to a bridge from an old Premier song. If you’re into noodly/tappy math-rock kind of stuff, you will probably love Invalids. Their debut LP called Eunoia just came out like 30 minutes ago. Check it out.
My stupid voice comes in about halfway through.
Also, Pete also writes super epic acoustic/folk/prog/something or other that also rules. His record The Pottsville Conglomerate was in my top 10 last year.
not only does this album rule, but this guys guest vocals are fucking beautiful on it. take everything you like about math rock from the past 10 or so years, and condense it, and you have this album. its got the chaos, the nut busting tapping riffs, the catchy noodles, the beautiful vocal harmonies/guitar harmonies, tight bass, crazy (programmed) drums. it also draws from math rock spread across the world in my opinion, a lot of noodly american stuff, a lot of finger picking/stuttery-ness from UK math rock/math pop. i cant say enough about this album go listen to it.
